Teachers stage walk out in response to anti-trans activist outburst at chaotic school board meeting
Beth Bourne caused major disruption at the school board meeting (Davis Joint Unified School District)
A Davis, California school board meeting descended into chaos on Thursday night when teachers staged a walkout as Beth Bourne, a local Moms for Liberty chapter president and school board candidate, began speaking during public comment. Video of the meeting is available via the district’s school board meeting video portal.
As Bourne approached the lectern, many district-area teachers stood up and left the room. Bourne shouted at the meeting chair: “Ask those teachers to stop interrupting my comment!” She then demanded: “I want my time back! I want my time back!”
During the disruption, one attendee shouted “B*******!” at Bourne. Bourne turned towards the departing teachers and yelled: “You are a bunch of cowards! You are a bunch of weak, stupid, brainwashed liberals! You are a bunch of f****** idiots! You are hurting these children!” She also shouted: “This is insane!”
The chair attempted to restore order, telling the board: “Public comment is over,” but Bourne returned to the microphone and continued speaking. She delivered remarks opposing LGBTQ+ content in school books and policies, including claims about pronouns and trans inclusion in schools. S
In the video, Bourne can also be seen wearing a trans flag tank top during the exchange.
Prior controversies and court action
Bourne has previously caused disruption at Davis school board meetings, including when she stripped down to what appeared to be a bikini during a Davis School Board meeting while protesting the district’s trans-inclusive junior high school toilet and locker-room policies.
The district reportedly filed for a temporary restraining order against Bourne in October 2023 following bomb threats to local schools, libraries, and the homes of district teachers. She also reportedly shared social media posts that doxed educators.
It is understood a judge ordered Bourne on Wednesday to take down social media videos that allegedly put minors in danger. She reportedly faces an arraignment in October related to an alleged restraining-order violation.
