The Trailer for the New CARRIE Adaptation Is Out

The official trailer for the latest adaptation of Carrie by Stephen King is out.

It starts off with an introduction to Carrie White as she goes through her high school’s metal detectors. As the socially awkward, previously homeschooled girl becomes more accustomed to public schooling, the tension ratchets up.

Soon, we see Carrie’s eagerness for school clash with her classmates’ cruelty, all while a narrator hints at a fateful, unexplainable and violent day.

Many of us know King’s Carrie and know what to expect, but this adaptation feels of our time—in a good way. The modern additions—like Carrie’s bullying happening over the internet for all to watch on their smartphones—make sense and help to bring the character’s issues into the modern day.

The Mike Flanagan-led series stars Summer H. Howell, Matthew Lillard, Amber Midthunder, and others. It will run for eight episodes (so far) on Prime Video, starting on October 7.
