Adam Sandler’s Daughter’s Funny Story About Her Dad In The Pool Is Almost Too Silly To Be Believed
I never get tired of hearing Adam Sandler stories, and I’ve found my new favorite thing is hearing them from his daughters. So when Sunny Sandler made her “first-ever late-night appearance” to promote her project on the 2026 movie schedule, Don’t Say Good Luck, I had a feeling we’d get a good story. However, her hilarious tale about her dad in the pool is almost too silly to be believed.
It’s no secret that Adam Sandler has made a brand for himself with his signature sense of humor and baggy clothes. Now, his daughter is doing the same thing. She already has his sense of humor. However, she’s got the clothes part down too, as she recalled a time when she and her sister dressed up in their dad’s iconic wardrobe and then jumped in a pool during an appearance on The Tonight Show:
I don’t really do an impression of him, but my mom tells a story from when I was younger. Me and my sister, we dressed up in his clothes, before that was popular and cool…. The big shirts, the shorts. We held Diet Cokes and, like, yelled about the air conditioning being off. And then we jumped in the pool with our socks on, because he wears his socks in the pool because he can’t bend to take them off on land.
Somehow, this reminds me of Adam’s characters from Happy Gilmore or even Grown Ups. I can totally see him and his famous friends jumping into a pool with their socks on. And I can also see them doing what Sunny said he does with those socks once he’s in the water:

And then he’ll drain them and then you play catch with them.
With a dad like that, it’s no wonder Sunny is already proving she has the comedy chops. Having inherited “the acting bug,” she has been steadily making a name for herself. In fact, Adam has been open about not pushing his kids into acting and described his time working with them on Happy Gilmore 2 as a “relief” when they did well.
Now they really are following in his shoes. Sunny was previously praised for her role in You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, with critics particularly pointing out: “She can toss out a one-liner and flex her skills at slapstick.” Plus, this new interview where she poked fun at her dad is another great example of her comedy chops. I suspect we’ll be seeing more late-night appearances and movies in her future.
Speaking of movies in her future, she’s leading Julia Hart’s Don’t Say Good Luck, a musical teen drama that made Fallon admit that “it had [him] bawling.” This sounds like it’ll push her from comedy into a more serious role as she plays a teen who gets the lead in the school play at the same time she learns her mother (Melanie Lynskey) has cancer. So, you better believe I’ll be using my Netflix subscription to watch her in this anticipated release on the streamer’s 2026 schedule.
She’s also teased a part in Grown Ups 3, which has started shooting and comes after the success of the long-awaited sequel to Happy Gilmore.
Through all of this, and yes, that includes this pool story, Sunny’s humor has proven to be more and more like her dad’s, and I love to see it. Now, I’m excited to see her in a more serious part, and I’m also hoping she’s not jumping into pools with her socks on.
