True Crime Story of Murder on Safari Becomes Docuseries

Three-part series, based on Rolling Stone‘s 2022 feature “Before the Dentist Knows Your Dead,” heads to Hulu in July

The true crime story about a millionaire dentist, his wife, and his mistress, and one of their suspicious deaths on a Zambian safari — a mystery documented in the pages of Rolling Stone — will be the focus of a Hulu docuseries out next month.

Trophy Wife: Murder on Safari — co-produced by XTR, ABC News Studios, and Rolling Stone Films — is based on writer Matt Sullivan’s 2022 feature “Before the Dentist Knows Your Dead,” about Pennsylvania dentist Larry Rudolph, his wife Bianca, and his dental hygienist/mistress Lori Milliron.

“After Larry is forced to choose between his wife of 34 years, Bianca, and his mistress, one of them is found dead in Larry’s safari cabin in Zambia,” the docuseries’ synopsis states. “The local authorities rule it an accident, but back in the U.S., suspicions mount. As investigators dig deeper, they uncover decades of salacious patterns in Larry’s personal and professional dealings, including affairs, fraud, and more. But the question remains: could this apparent egomaniac commit murder? And if so, does the FBI have the evidence to prove it?”

Without spoiling the docuseries and the feature — which has since been updated with the outcome following criminal proceedings —Trophy Wife: Murder on Safari features new interviews with “an eclectic cast of characters including Larry’s former business partner, Milliron’s daughter, the Rudolphs’ insurance broker, FBI agents close to the case, the former U.S. ambassador to Zambia, and more. Members of Safari Club International and several of Larry’s former dental office employees also speak out, painting a disturbing picture of the man at the center of this shocking case.”

The two still-living members of the love triangle also provided exclusive interviews (from behind bars) to the three-part docuseries, which arrives on Hulu on July 21.
