Meet Samantha, Brexton + Lennix

Above all else, Kyle Busch was a husband and father.

The legendary NASCAR driver died at just 41 years old on Thursday (May 21) after a brief hospitalization, leaving behind his wife and two children. The reason for his hospitalization is unknown at this time, but it was announced earlier in the day that he would not be racing in North Carolina this weekend due to a serious illness.

Kyle and his wife, Samantha Busch, often shared glimpses of their family life on social media. Aside from a statement released by the Busch family and Richard Childress Racing, Samantha has not publicly commented.

Who Is Samantha Busch?

Samantha Busch is an author, IVF advocate, podcaster and entrepreneur who also shares lifestyle content on social media. She grew up in northwestern Indiana and studied at Purdue University, where she majored in psychology before earning a master’s degree in industrial/organizational psychology.

She met her husband in 2007 while working as a promotional model. Samantha had been sent to her first race by her modeling agency and, at the time, was a senior in college, according to a 2023 Instagram post in which she shared the story of how the pair first met.

According to Samantha, she spent the day working outside in the heat while wearing a black Chevy T-shirt and encouraging fans to take ride-alongs in a Chevy Impala around the track. She said she immediately jumped at the chance to ride in an air-conditioned car when a woman approached and asked if she wanted to go for a ride.

Later, Samantha learned that Busch had actually spotted her from afar and asked his PR representative to invite her into the car. When she got in, she said to him, “Wow, you got a way better assignment than I did.”

Samantha admitted she “did most of the talking” during the ride and even invited Busch to go out with her group later that night. He declined because he had to work, though she later realized that meant preparing for a truck race. Thinking the interaction was over, Samantha said she was surprised when “Mr. Shy had someone ask me for my number.”

The pair began dating and married on New Year’s Eve in 2010.

They welcomed their first child, son Brexton, on May 18, 2015. Their second child, daughter Lennix, arrived via surrogate on May 10, 2022.

Samantha and Kyle were open about their infertility journey, which included an unsuccessful embryo transfer and a miscarriage. Their experience led Samantha to advocate for other families facing similar struggles through the Bundle of Joy Fund. She also authored the book Fighting Infertility: Finding My Inner Warrior Through Trying to Conceive, IVF and Miscarriage.

Who Are Kyle Busch’s Children?

Kyle Busch and Samantha Busch shared two children together: son Brexton and daughter Lennix.

Brexton, who recently turned 11 years old, had already begun following in his father’s footsteps on the racetrack. Racing has long been part of the Busch family legacy, dating back to Kyle’s father, Tom Busch, who found success racing Late Models in Nevada before passing that passion down to sons Kurt and Kyle.

That legacy is now continuing through a third generation.

Brexton began racing in 2020 at just 5 years old, competing in the Beginner Box Stock division at dirt tracks in North Carolina. Only a month into his young career, he earned his first victory at Mountain Creek Speedway.

While Brexton gravitated toward racing at an early age, the Busch family’s youngest child, Lennix, brought a different kind of joy into Kyle and Samantha’s lives.

Born in 2022 after the couple’s long and very public infertility journey, Lennix’s arrival was something Samantha often described as a miracle for their family. Though still very young at just 4 years old, she frequently appeared alongside her parents and older brother at races, family events and on Samantha’s social media pages.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Samantha, Brexton, Lennix and the entire Busch family during this incredibly difficult time.
