Epic Games Store Adds ‘A Plague Tale: Innocence’ Next Week

Epic Games are catering to genre fans once again with the reveal that Asobo’s A Plague Tale: Innocence will be the next title available for free for a week as part of the store’s weekly giveaways. Innocence (which once again, we loved) will be available for free from August 5 to August 12, alongside Double Stallion Games’ Speed Brawl. This news comes after the game received next-gen upgrades earlier this month (as well as a Switch release). Hopefully we hear more about the recently-announced sequel soon in A Plague Tale:...

Phil Tippett’s ‘Mad God’ Unveils Stop-Motion Animation Sci-Fi Epic 30 Years in the Making [Trailer]

It’s not unusual for eras or decades of the horror genre to be categorized by one overarching theme or style. The eighties have become synonymous for their boom in low-budget, often sleazy, slasher films inspired by the cornerstone slashers of the mid-to-late seventies. The horrors of the 50s reflected cultural fears of science creating new monsters or humans facing threats from an unknown origin. Not so long ago, the 2000s — or the aughts — saw a weird meshing of the one-third remake craze; one-third gritty, nihilistic, Post-9/11 horror, and...

‘Skull’ Is an Origin Story About the First Time a Predator Comes to Earth; Filming Almost Completed!

True to its name, a documentary documents a subject and provides an examination of it in the process. Horror documentaries usually offer insight, analysis, and context for various aspects of the genre, either on a broad or niche scale. Hail to the Deadites doesn’t seek to provide any new details or analysis of the Evil Dead franchise but instead turns the camera back on the fervent fandom that’s tirelessly supported it for decades. It’s a charming presentation of some of the franchise’s biggest fans, but it never delves below the surface. Filmmaker Steve Villeneuve...

Netflix’s “Godzilla: Singular Point” Makes for a Bloated, Disappointing Experience [Anime Horrors]

Welcome back to Anime Horrors – a column dedicated to exploring new and classic works of anime and manga.  Godzilla adapted into an anime – animated by studio Bones nonetheless- sounds like an excellent idea. Given the release of Godzilla vs. Kong earlier this year, Godzilla: Singular Point comes at a perfect time to satiate the need for those wanting more Kaiju action. And yet, Godzilla: Singular Point is brutally disappointing.   As far as positives go, the show has stunning visuals. From the environments to the characters and monster designs, everything looks...

John Carpenter Says Snake Plissken Deserves “a Third or Maybe Even Fourth Story”

Timo Tjahjanto is soon to be a legend. It’s a little frustrating that this Indonesian-based filmmaker has yet to break in Hollywood, but it’s comforting to know that he’s set to get behind the camera for the remake of Train to Busan for James Wan’s Atomic Monster and New Line Cinema. He also revealed on social media late last night that he’s attached to a project with the filmmaking team behind Sinister and Doctor Strange, director Scott Derrickson and writer C. Robert Cargill.
