A Journalist Plays a Dangerous Game in Timur Bekmambetov’s “Screenlife” Thriller ‘Profile’ [Trailer]
Timur Bekmambetov, the producer of Searching and director of films including Night Watch, Day Watch, Wanted and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, is headed back to the world of “ScreenLife” with his new thriller Profile, which has been acquired by Focus Features.
Focus will release Profile in theaters on May 14. Find the tense trailer below.
The “Screenlife” sub-genre refers to films, like Searching and the horror movies Unfriended and Host, that take place entirely across the computer screens of the characters.
“Profile follows an undercover British journalist in her quest to bait and expose a terrorist recruiter through social media, while trying not to be sucked in by her recruiter and lured into becoming a militant extremist herself.”
Valene Kane (Rogue One) and Shazad Latif (Star Trek: Discovery) star, and Deadline notes that the film is “inspired by the 2015 nonfiction bestseller In the Skin of a Jihadist.”
Britt Poulton wrote the script with Bekmambetov and Olga Kharina.
