Fangoria Studios Will Unleash Half-Man, Half-Tiger ‘Sitora’ in Upcoming Creature Feature

A very exciting piece of news comes out of the virtual Cannes market, with ScreenDaily reporting that Roxanne Benjamin is set to direct the brand new survival thriller Fall Into Darkness from a screenplay by David Bruckner and Nick Tecosky.

The film is described as “a Lord of the Flies tale about American backpackers stranded with locals in a vast cave system in the Dominican Republic.”

Nell Tiger Free (pictured above in “Servant”), Thomas Doherty, and Lorenza Izzo (The Green Inferno, Knock Knock, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) will star in the film that was adapted from the 2014 Spanish-language thriller La Cueva from Morena Films.

Benjamin is a huge part of the Bloody Disgusting family, having helped us acquire our awesome BD Selects line of films and also producing both V/H/S and V/H/S/2 before going on to direct a segment in our horror anthology Southbound. She also helmed the excellent indie thriller Body at Brighton Rock, as well as episodes of “Creepshow”, “Riverdale”, and “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”.

Bruckner and Tecosky developed the story with Pedro Uriol and Juan Gordon of Morena Films, who also serve as executive producers. Bruckner, who is currently in prep on Hellraiser for Hulu, also directed segments in V/H/S and Southbound, and directed The Ritual for Netflix and the forthcoming The Night House for Searchlight.

Peter Block (SAW) of A Bigger Boat and Zak Kilberg of Social Construct are producing. Bruckner also serves as an executive producer with Connie Hoy and Blue Ridge Media Capital.

Production is scheduled to begin this autumn at Lantica’s Pinewood Studios in Dominican Republic.
