Kesha Teases New Music After Split From Dr. Luke’s Label
The music would follow her 2023 album Gag Order, which released in May
Kesha has new music on the way, the singer teased in a photograph snapped on Thursday.
The artist was photographed in Los Angeles on Thursday holding a cardboard sign that read: “New music coming soon!” This would mark the first new tracks from Kesha since parting ways with Dr. Luke‘s record label Kemosabe this year. The singer seemed to have fulfilled her obligation with the label with Gag Order, released in May, and as Variety reported in December, she officially parted ways with the label and with Vector management.
Kesha and Dr. Luke settled their long-running legal battle back in June, nine years after Luke sued her for defamation after she first accused him of drugging and raping her in 2014. “Only God knows what happened that night,” Kesha wrote in a statement when the settlement was announced. “As I always said, I cannot recount everything that happened. I am looking forward to closing the door on this chapter of my life and beginning a new one. I wish nothing but peace to all parties involved.”
Kesha spoke with Rolling Stone about Gag Order ahead of the album’s release in April, saying that “I feel as if there has been an implied gag order for a very long time now.”
Last month, following the separation from Kemosabe, she told a fan that “I’m free, I can do what I want.”
