Music is a spiritual affair of man designed at freeing him from life’s chaos. On the eve of St. Patrick’s Day, 2023 Serialist, Singer/Songwriter, Soundtrack Extraordinaire, Randy Edelman KILLED IT in front of a sold out, genre defying crowd in a dazzling, tantalizing and romantic exhibit of music, song, laughter, and joy. The effect this night had was nothing short of electrifying, like a powerful star ignited, following a rocket ship trajectory into orbit….an orbit of his own.
A sincere musical visionary, Randy Edelman’s songs have been truly bedazzling and triumphant because every small and significant part of his songs and film scores are created with passion and perfection. A global champion in the motion picture industry as the musical architect of hundreds of movies including: My Cousin Vinny, Last of the Mohicans, Ghostbusters ll, Billy Madison, Kindergarten Cop, and a marathon of others, Randy is one of the most respected, admired and well known in his profession. As a charted pop star his own recordings include “Uptown, Uptempo Woman”, “Concrete and Clay”, “Pretty Girls”, “Comin’ Out the Other Side”, and an array of others. Those covered by other icons include “A Weekend in New England” recorded by Barry Manilow, “You”, as recorded by The Carpenters, Isn’t It A Shame”, as recorted by Patti LaBelle and hip-hop superstar Nelly, and again a cascade of others. All of those mentioned above were showcased in the evening’s extravaganza.
His career or should I say careers are nothing short of miraculous and remarkable. He shared a small piece of his extraordinary professional life with a mesmerized audience through his touching and amusing stories as well as his songs and eloquent bits of his soundtracks. And then there is the romance….which many of his compositions contain.
“There is always some madness in love, but there is also always some reason in madness”… Friedrich Nietzsche
Nietzsche’s quote follows suit with Randy’s songs regarding love, love lost, love devoured, trusting love one more time, ….it’s all there amidst Randy’s sensitive heart, fervent passion, and charming force. With a charming swagger, the multi-award winning symphonies is a little renegade, a bit romantic, but mostly exquisitely radiant, and the congregation adores him….il possède le coeur du public….
