Meghan Markle Wore a Chic Little Black Dress in New York City With Prince Harry
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry returned to New York City this morning to celebrate Nelson Mandela Day at the United Nations headquarters, where Harry will be giving a keynote address. The couple matched in all-black ensembles, Harry in a sharp suit and Meghan in a mid-length little black dress. She wore her hair in a low ponytail with a center part. The couple held hands entering the UN.
Harry and Meghan last visited New York City publicly in September. For the most part since then, the couple has lived a quiet, private life in Montecito, California, with their two children Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 1.
The Duke and Duchess’s last public trip was last month when they traveled to the U.K. for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee events. It marked Lili’s first trip to the U.K. and Meghan and Archie’s first trip back since Meghan and Harry stepped back from their senior royal family member roles in 2020.
The couple purposely kept a low profile during their visit, a source who knows Meghan and Harry told People in June. (The Duke and Duchess appear to be doing the same with their visit to New York City now.)
“They aren’t part of the [working] royal family anymore, and that’s a decision they have taken—but maybe [the public] hasn’t quite accepted that yet,” a source said, acknowledging some believed Meghan and Harry should’ve been out at more events. “Yes, they were low-key. They paid their respects and went home.”
“They were really here to see the Queen, and they did,” the source added.
