A New Palo Santo-Inspired Fragrance from Tom Ford + More Beauty News
Including Canadian-made candles you need for your holiday Netflix binge, chic new collagen supplements for your morning coffee and a hair gel you’ll actually want to use.
The newest Tom Ford fragrance is an ode to burning Palo Santo
If you dabble in a little morning meditation or post-work incense burn to take the edge off, the latest Tom Ford fragrance might just be a love letter to your chakras. Part of his private blend collection, Ébène Fumé is considered a woody amber scent and balances the essence of palo santo (a wild tree that was reportedly used by the ancient Incas to clear negative energy) with African ebony wood, black pepper, pine, citrus and Tom’s beloved roses. The heady combo is undoubtedly a transcendent spritz. “I wanted a scent that captures a meditative feeling. It has an almost spiritual sensuality that uplifts your mood…which might be the most seductive indulgence of all,” says Ford in the release.
Chic collagen supplements arrive in Canada
Launched in 2019 by Libby Matthew, a naturopath and nutritionist from New Zealand, Dose & Co. has officially landed in Canada after successfully expanding to both Australia and the U.S. (where they count Khloe Kardashian as a fan and ambassador.) The line of collagen and peptide powders were created by Matthews when she struggled to find prenatal supplements that didn’t contain any fillers or artificial sweeteners. Said to improve hair, nail and skin health, as well as joint pain and even potentially boost muscle mass, these Dose & Co. supplements include tasty additions such as vanilla and caramel collagen coffee creamers, which are easy to add to your morning routine and packaged in paper cartons for no-brainer disposal.
These Canadian holiday candles are the sensorial delight you need right now
Handmade in Montreal, Soja+Co.’s candles are 100 per cent soy wax (which is biodegradable and produces less soot) and packaged in recycled paper. The brand’s just-dropped winter collection is just the thing to get you in the holiday spirit, with lush scents that still offer an air of sophistication, including cocoa and cardamom, marshmallow and clementine, and our personal fave, pine, pomegranate and tangerine. The latter includes complex notes such as juniper berry, sea salt, eucalyptus and vanilla bean — the perfect accompaniment to your next guilty-pleasure holiday Netflix watch.
Glossier releases a limited-edition bath set
Die hard Glossier fans can now add to their photogenic collection with one of the latest limited-edition holiday kits. Packaged in a hard-to-resist G-patterned carton, the stand-out is the orange blossom-scented bath duo kit. It includes a chic set set of bath pods that scent the water with neroli and skin-conditioning oils, and a mini candle which we all know will live on forever as an Insta-friendly vessel for your cotton swabs or hair ties post-burn.
Lush has its way with dated hair gel
Hair gel has seemingly lost its way over the years. In theory, it’s a must-have since it can offer up hold and definition but all too often leaves your hair looking and feeling a little stiff. Not to mention the standard musky scent and sticky texture. Enter this new formula from Lush, which keeps hair in place using Japanese wax and kaolin clay while simultaneously softening hair with linseed and illipe nut butter. With a matte finish and elevated scent featuring rose, wood and neroli notes, you’ll wonder why you ever reached for that XL drugstore tube. This tinted version is perfect for those with blonde, white or grey hair, since it works double-duty to tone brassiness.
