Martina + John McBride — Country’s Greatest Love Stories

Since May 15, 1988, Martina McBride and sound engineer John McBride have been part of an inspiring love story. And the singer’s husband attributes it to divine intervention.

“I’m not a religious guy, but I always felt God put us together,” John McBride tells The Boot. “It’s crazy. I’d never had that feeling before. This girl, she’s incredible, and I love her more [now] than I ever have. I told her, ‘If we could bottle what we have, we could retire, girl.’ We’re so lucky.”

The “Everlasting” singer agrees, giving her own input on how to make a marriage work.

“The most obvious answer is that I chose well. Or got lucky, depending on how you look at it,” Martina McBride says. “I married a man who is a great partner. He is thoughtful, kind, considerate, romantic, handsome and really funny. We love each other’s company, our personalities complement each other, and we respect each other. He thinks I’m smart and funny, and I think the same about him. We are a great team.”

From being a blushing bride to becoming a mom of three and a successful country star, the McBrides have celebrated over two and a half decades of being husband and wife. But that doesn’t stop the couple from reminiscing about their favorite wedding memories — and Martina McBride still calls it a “magical day” after all these years.

“There are so many [memories],” she tells People. “Going to breakfast with my mom and sister. Walking down the aisle with my dad. The kiss. Walking back down the aisle as the new Mrs. McBride!”
