Makeup Tips For Looking Youthful At Any Age With Makeup Guru Gina Brown

As each birthday comes and goes, your skin starts to change and so should the way you apply your makeup. I spoke with Professional Makeup Artist Gina Brown who says, “The way you applied makeup in your teens and twenties doesn’t work quite as well when you enter your thirties and forties. But with some minor adjustments you can look and feel just as good as your younger self.” Gina also gave us her Six Secret tips for looking youthful at any age.

Tip #1 Use Cream products over Powders

Cream products melt into your skin giving it a more hydrated youthful glow. Powder products can make your skin appear dry and dehydrated, which will make you appear older.

Tip #2 Eye Cream

Make sure to use a good eye cream before using your concealer. If your under eye is dry, your wrinkles will be more pronounced. Make sure to let the eye cream set for a couple of minutes before applying your concealer. This is done to make sure it is properly absorbed before applying another product.

Tip #3 Blush Application

When applying blush, do not just apply to the apples of your cheeks. You should run the blush in an upward motion from cheek to brown line. Coloring them higher on the cheekbone gives a more lifted appearance.

Tip #4 Use a Moisturizing Prime

Primer is key in smoothing out fine lines and uneven texture for creating an even base before applying your foundation. For aging skin a hydrating primer will give you the best results.

Tip #5 Shadowing Lower Lashline

Use an eyeshadow to define your lower lash line as opposed to a pencil or crayon liner. This will give a softer, less harsh appearance. Dip a small flat brush into a medium tone shadow and hug the lash line with the brush in an almost stamping motion.

Tip #6 Go Lighter on the Brows

Make sure to use a brow pencil at least a shade lighter than your natural brow color. The goal is to softly frame your face. Using a dark brow pencil can give a harsh appearance while going lighter will give you a softer more youthful appearance.
