Simon Barrett’s New Horror Movie ‘Seance’ Acquired By RLJE Films and Shudder; Releasing in May
Simon Barrett is a central part of the Bloody Disgusting family, having collaborated with Adam Wingard on our A Horrible Way to Die, not to mention both V/H/S and V/H/S/2, the latter of which he directed the film’s wraparound for. Barrett also penned The Guest, You’re Next, Blair Witch, and the 2004 horror film Dead Birds, and he’s directing our upcoming V/H/S/94.
But first up, Barrett makes his directorial debut with Seance this year, a brand new horror movie that’s just been acquired by RLJE Films and Shudder for release this May.
First, Seance comes to theaters, On Demand and Digital courtesy of RLJE Films on May 21. The film will then be arriving on the Shudder streaming service at a later date this year.
“The film stars Suki Waterhouse as the new girl at the prestigious Edelvine Academy for Girls. Soon after her arrival, six girls invite her to join them in a late-night ritual, calling forth the spirit of a dead former student who reportedly haunts their halls. But before morning, one of the girls is dead, leaving the others wondering what they may have awakened.”
Stephanie Sy, Inanna Sarkis, Madisen Beaty, Djouliet Amara, and Ella-Rae Smith also star.
Adam Wingard is a producer on Seance.
