Bling Empire Season 2: Everything We Know
If Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Crazy Rich Asians, and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills had an eight-episode love child, it would be Netflix’s Bling Empire. The series, which premiered on January 15, follows the lives of ultra-wealthy Asians living in Los Angeles. There are extravagant parties, blinding jewels, and enough mentions of Dior to make your head spin.
Created by KUWTK producer Jeff Jenkins, the show introduces a cast of couture-wearing characters: There’s Christine Chiu, wife of a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon and mother to a toddler who wears designer clothing and goes by “Baby G.” Her nemesis is Anna Shay, a socialite and defense weapons heiress who prefers her privacy. Then there’s model/actor and new Angeleno Kevin Kreider, real estate mogul Kane Lim, DJ Kim Lee, denim heiress Cherie Chan, film producer Kelly Mi Li, and influencer Jamie Xie.
For some, Bling Empire has provided an escape from the stark realities of the world. For others, it’s a reminder of the wealth disparity that’s been intensified by a global pandemic. There’s no official word on a second season yet, though, Jenkins told Town & Country he’s more than up for the challenge. “We just celebrated 14 years of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. I would love to take this cast even further.”
Ahead, everything we know about a potential second season, straight from the cast members themselves.
The cast wants to return for more lavish adventures.
While Netflix hasn’t confirmed a second season, the larger-than-life characters have already voiced their excitement about returning. “If you thought I dropped a big bomb in season 1, then you have no idea,” Christine teased to OprahMag.com, adding that her confession would be “timely in our climate.” Christine also suggested to WWD that she’d “maybe” launch a new beauty line in “the second season.”
As for Kevin, he told Entertainment Tonight that he envisioned more travel, not less, in season 2. “I’d like to go to South Korea!” he said, adding that he’d like to bring the whole cast along. “Personally, I think traveling is going to be a huge thing.” Kim agreed: “You know, we tried to travel for the first season, but obviously with time constraints and stuff like that, we couldn’t. I would actually like to fly the whole cast to Singapore show them what Singapore truly is.”
Season 1 left us with several burning questions.
Just as the cast of Bling Empire covets high-end designer labels and opulent homes, viewers crave answers to the season’s biggest conflicts. For starters, Kelly ends the season back at her on-again, off-again boyfriend Andrew’s home after ton of ups and downs. (The couple is reportedly still together in real life, although Kane tells ET, “Maybe season 2, we’ll see another breakup.”)
Then there’s Kim, whose season-long search for her biological father ends with a devastating conclusion. However, she does seem to find a possible connection with Kevin at Cherie Chan’s 100 Day party. As for Christine, only time will tell if she and her husband Dr. Gabriel welcome a second child.
There’s no release date yet.
In short: without a confirmed second season, there’s also no premiere date. There are also widespread production delays due to the ongoing pandemic, particularly in Los Angeles, where the series is set. Viewers could be several years away from getting a Bling Empire season 2. Until then, we’ll always have Anna Shay’s Instagram.
