A Gwyneth Paltrow “This Smells Like My Vagina” candle has exploded in a woman’s living room, causing vagina-scented “inferno”.

Paltrow’s brand Goop famously released a candle named “This Smells Like My Vagina” in January 2020.

The website, home of strange, overpriced and in some cases questionable “wellness” products, described the scent as “geranium, citrusy bergamot, and cedar absolutes juxtaposed with Damask rose and ambrette seed to put us in mind of fantasy, seduction, and a sophisticated warmth”.

Jody Thompson, 50, won her candle in an online Christmas work quiz, and did not have to pay the £69 retail price for her home to be engulfed in vagina-scented flames.

Posting on Instagram, Thompson was initially excited about her winnings, although she described the candle scent as “a bit fusty”.

However, in the second week of 2021, she got a less than welcome surprise in her London living room.

She told The Sun: “The candle exploded and emitted huge flames, with bits flying everywhere.

“I’ve never seen anything like it. The whole thing was ablaze and it was too hot to touch. There was an inferno in the room.”

“We eventually got it under control and threw it out the front door,” she added.

“It could have burned the place down. It was scary at the time, but funny looking back that Gwyneth’s vagina candle exploded in my living room.”

Sharing a photo of the charred remains of her vagina candle online, she wrote: “Yeah, thanks Gwynnie, stuff your flaming vagina.”

When it was released, Gwyneth Paltrow’s vagina candle divided queer women online, with some branding it the “perfect gift for any lesbian”, and others saying: “The fact that a p***y-scented candle is not only a concept but an actual product that you can purchase and have in your home makes me want to put an ice pick in my skull.”

The Hollywood star later released a follow-up candle: “This Smells Like My Orgasm.”
