Kurt Russell Confirms His Return in ‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’ Season 2
Army officer Lee Shaw (Kurt Russell) made a valiant sacrifice in the season one finale of “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters,” but, as the actor puts it best in a new video from Apple TV, “You ain’t getting rid of me that easy.”
Confirmation of Russell’s official return for season two can be found in the amusing video below.
Russell and his son, Wyatt Russell, play the older and younger versions, respectively, of Shaw. The older version of the character was last seen getting sucked into Hollow Earth. Production kicked off late last year on Apple TV+’s “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters“ Season 2, and one of the monsters we’ve already been promised we’ll be seeing more of is King Kong.
Wyatt Russell is also returning alongside Anna Sawai as Cate Randa, Ren Watabe, Kiersey Clemons, and Takehiro Hira. Amber Midthunder (Prey) joins the cast of the upcoming second season.
Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking revelation that monsters are real, “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters“ tracks two siblings following in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch. Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw, taking place in the 1950s and half a century later, where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows. The dramatic saga – spanning three generations – reveals buried secrets and the ways that epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate through our lives.
Chris Black serves as showrunner on Season 2. Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita executive produce on behalf of Toho Co., the owner of the Godzilla character.
Get ready for even more Kaiju monsters and action with season two on the way.
