It’s been a big year for rap’s reigning royalty, Ice Spice, a.k.a. “The People’s Princess” (a moniker that she shares with the late Princess Diana). From gracing the front rows of Paris Fashion Week to racking up brand deals like her playful collab with Kate Spade (you can shop it here), the four-time Grammy nominee has been on a global tear.

And let’s not forget her Coachella performance in April, which caught the attention of everyone in the desert and even had Taylor Swift in the crowd vibing along.

But Ice Spice‘s latest venture is extending beyond music and fashion. Recently, she made a glossy entrance into the automotive world via a diamond-encrusted partnership with Mercedes-Benz. The project? A chromed-out “princess mobile” unveiled as part of the brand’s “Class of Creators” initiative, which taps five visionary talents across music, art, and fashion to remix the iconic CLA model into rolling works of art.

Ice’s version is true to her aesthetic — sleek, eye-catching, and unapologetically hers. It features a polished metallic finish, carefully detailed accents, and her signature studded “princess” script along the side. Other contributors to the series, include KidSuper and Hot Wheels, who will unveil their designs throughout the rest of 2025.

Rolling Stone caught up with the Bronx-born star to talk Benzes, studio bars, and what’s next for the industry’s newest monarch. Read the full interview below, and shop some of our favorite Ice Spice-inspired finds along the way.

Ice Spice x Rolling Stone 2025 Interview

A lot has changed since you were last on our cover in 2024, so who is your most listened-to artist right now?
My most played is Cash Cobain.

It’s almost been a year since Y2K! was released; reflecting back, what’s your favorite track on the album, and what was the inspiration behind it?
BB Belt. I just really wanted to pop my shit, and that’s what I was doing.

What’s your creative process like when you’re making a new studio album?
I usually get into the studio and pull up some beats that I already know that I kind of vibe with, and I like to just start coming up with the top line. And once I come up with the first line, I usually just move on into the hook and I build slowly from there.

Has this process changed at all throughout the years?
Everything kind of changes a little bit slowly throughout the years, but, it’s pretty consistent. Or, like, I have things that I do that I’m comfortable with. I take a lot of breaks in between recording songs. So I don’t just, sit and go through it. I get up, do things, eat, or whatever, and then come back to it the next day.

How do you jog your creativity?
I have for sure things that I do before recording, like, I’ll brush my teeth. I always have to brush my teeth before I start. Also seltzer water and gum. I have all of these little practices that I do before before making new music.

You’re pretty active on social media, how intentional is the persona you put out there?
Ever since I became artist, I definitely share less ideas than I did before. I think that also just comes with maturity a little bit, because I was just saying anything as a kid online. I was kind of a little bit of a troll back in my day.

Is there anyone you turn to in the industry for advice?
Taylor Swift. She brought me out on her Eras Tour in New Jersey for all three nights, and it was nuts.

What was that like?
I couldn’t hear anything. The crowd looked like little lights because there’s so many people there. But I would definitely collab again with her for sure.

Are there any new genres that you’re curious to explore next?
A Spanish vibe would be fun.

Last month, you partnered with Mercedes-Benz as part of their “Class of Creators” launch, what made you want to do that?
I’ve always been a fan of Mercedes growing up and that’s my favorite car. So it was a no brainer.

Do you have a dream car?
My dream car would look just like the one we designed together — all chromed out.
