Mel B and Eddie Murphy’s child Angel now living as a trans man

Angel Brown, the child of Hollywood actor Eddie Murphy and Spice Girls star Mel B, is living life as a transgender man.
Shrek star Eddie Murphy and Mel B – full name Melanie Brown, but better known as Scary Spice – had a short romance in 2006, resulting in Angel being born in 2007, after they had split.
Angel, who turned 18-years-old in April, has shared on his Instagram bio that he uses the pronoun “him”.
Meanwhile, the Daily Mail reports that both Brown and Murphy have supported Angel’s decision to publicly transition.
“It’s a decision Angel made and Mel has been understanding, likewise Eddie. There was no big event to mark it. Angel just wanted it to be known what pronouns are now suitable,” an unnamed source reportedly told the publication.
Brown, who recently celebrated her 50th birthday, shared a series of sweet photos of Angel on Instagram to mark his 18th birthday in April.
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY ANGEL !!! I cannot believe you’re 18. You are so special and so bright and so talented,” Brown shared.
“I couldn’t be prouder of watching you grow and become the person you are but you’ll forever be my babyyyy I hope you keep chasing your dreams and be kind to everyone around you like you always have been my Angel. Love you always.”
In her Instagram carousel, Brown shared photos of Angel as a baby, and a selection of more recent photos of the pair together.
Brown, who is currently engaged to hair specialist Rory McPhee, once dubbed Murphy as the love of her life.
“He always will be,” she said during an interview promoting her 2018 memoir Brutally Honest.
“I mean, I’ve never really spoken about it before, so this book, I wanted to address it because a lot of people have a misconstrued thing of how everything actually did happen.”
The end of Brown and Murphy’s relationship was high profile, with Murphy initially denying that he was the father of Angel. However, a paternity test later proved that he is indeed Angel’s father.
Angel is one of three of Brown’s children, with the musician also being mum to Phoenix Brown, aged 26, whom she had with her ex-husband Jimmy Gulzar, and youngster Madison Brown Belafonte, aged 13, whose father is Brown’s other ex-husband, Stephen Belafonte. Murphy has nine other children in addition to Angel.
Mel B has also been open about her experience of previously falling in love with a woman.
Angel Brown is one of a number of celebrity children to come out as transgender in recent weeks, with Robert De Niro’s daughter Airyn De Niro recently confirming that she has transitioned.
Speaking to PinkNews following her coming out, Airyn said that her father had been supportive and offered to accompany her to her hormone replacement therapy appointments.
