Netflix’s trademark LGBTQ+ dating show, The Ultimatum: Queer Love, is back for season two.
Two years on from the history-making first series, The Ultimatum: Queer Love season two, will follow six new queer couples deciding on whether to marry, or move on. With uncertainty in the form of commitment-phobia, compatibility and more factors looming, an ultimatum is given to those couples, and the experiment begins.
Hosted by JoAnna Garcia Swisher for a second time, the couples will split for a period of eight weeks and go into a trial marriage with another partner, before reuniting and deciding who they want to be with, if anyone.

AJ (she/her) and Britney (she/her)

Britney, 27, gave her partner, AJ, 28, the ultimatum as she’s “ready for the next chapter”. “I want clarity on where we are going and if she sees forever the same way I do,” said the registered nurse-come-entrepreneur.
However, the administrative assistant/MC said she is hesitant because she isn’t sure whether she and her partner are “truly ready to prioritise the same future”.
Haley (she/her) and Pilar (she/her)

Delivering the ultimatum to her “inseparable” college love, senior food scientist Haley, 29, is ready for “an even deeper commitment”.
Physical therapist Pilar, 29, however, thinks that marriage is a “social construct” and is navigating “internal turmoil” relating to her family, who don’t approve of her queer identity and relationship.
Kyle (she/they) and Bridget (she/they)

Graphic designer Kyle, 30, has come to the realisation that “getting married is an important step for me” and they also want to know that Bridget, 28, “is committed to building a life and future together”.
The 28-year-old writer-come-bartender, however, doesn’t “understand the point” of marriage, but still sees their forever with Kyle.
Mel (she/her) and Marie (she/her)

Food truck owner and chef Mel, 27, is receiving an ultimatum from Marie. “Marie is ready for forever, but I feel there are a few things we need to get in order first,” she said.
The fellow food truck owner, butler and bartender, however, is looking for “direction” for her relationship.“I want to know where I’m going in life,” the 27-year-old said.
Dayna (she/her) and Magan (27)

Relationship manager Dayna, 25, is issuing the ultimatum because she’s “ready to be more serious and plan a future with Magan”.
Business manager Magan, however, thinks she’s receiving the ultimatum due to her issues with “boundaries”. Her family is also reluctant to accept her queer identity, and is finding it difficult to imagine a future where all of her loved ones are present.
Ashley (she/her) and Marita (she/her)

Account manager Ashley, 30, wants her partner “to pick me and know that I am enough”. She said, “I am getting tired of her inconsistency in our relationship, along with the fact that she never chooses me and seeks feelings elsewhere with other people.”
Account executive Marita, 25, is concerned about the lack of romance in their relationship, and is apprehensive about walking down the aisle until that part can bloom. “I am not ready to settle for anything less than what I know I deserve,” she said.
The Ultimatum: Queer Love season 2 is set to hit Netflix on 25 June.
