Anna Camp’s dual performance in You season five is ‘amazing’

Penn Badgley has returned to New York for the fifth and final season of Netflix’s You, and fans are gagged about Anna Camp’s dual performance in the series.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for seasons four and five of You.

After three seasons of escaping his past as the calculated serial stalker and killer among backdrops like Los Angeles, the fictional suburban paradise of Madre Linda and London, Badgley’s character Joe Goldberg is facing his homecoming in the Big Apple.

Season five continues three years on from Joe and Kate (Charlotte Ritchie) moving back to New York City. Kate finds herself as CEO of the Lockwood Corporation, while Joe is hailed as her ever-supportive “Prince Charming” by the public and media. But, as they say, old habits die hard, and Joe grapples with that fact as he navigates life now being in the public eye. 

Whilst in New York, he meets some new faces, including Baby Reindeer’s Nava Mau as Detective Marquez, Orange is the New Black’s Madeline Brewer as Bronte, and Anna Camp as both Reagan Lockwood-Jacobs and Maddie Lockwood.

And it’s the Pitch Perfect star’s double-billed role as the Lockwood twins which had fans on the edge of their seats. In particular, during that tense bathroom scene, where – and stay with us here – Camp portrayed Maddie portraying her twin, Reagan. Confused? Just watch the clip below.

“Anna Camp, the actress that you are,” wrote one viewer, sharing the scene. Another echoed: “That washroom sequence with Kate standing just outside the door and her acting out both Reagan and herself at the same time was AMAZING.”

A third added: “If there’s a form of entering God Mode in the acting world she did it in that bathroom scene.”

“Absolutely agree,” wrote a fourth. “The scene when she was switching between Reagan and Maddie in the bathroom while Kate was trying to get in was amazing.”

“This woman’s acting is phenomenal,” another viewer noted.

Season four, which dropped on Netflix in 2023 in two parts, saw Goldberg head to London after killing off his partner in crime, Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti), at the end of season three.

While in the capital, Goldberg took on the alias of Professor Jonathan Moore, as he attempted to track down his former lover, Marienne Bellamy (Tati Gabrielle).

While there, he fell for the aristocratic Kate Galvin (Charlotte Ritchie), and the season ended with the pair moving back to New York, where the first season was set, and season five ends.
