Haunted Mansion Parlor: New Disney Cruise Ship Gets First Ever Themed ‘Haunted Mansion’ Bar
Grim grinning ghosts come out to socialize at sea next month. Disney Treasure, the newest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, is set to embark on its maiden voyage this December, and it includes the first-ever Haunted Mansion-themed bar onboard: the Haunted Mansion Parlor.
The website explains this themed new adults-only location, “Is that an illusion you see or is it just your imagination? Welcome foolish mortals to this first-of-its-kind haunted lounge featuring ghoulishly delightful “spirits.” But be forewarned: grim grinning ghosts are bound to materialize as a new chapter of the beloved 999 happy haunts story is about to unfold.”
In other words, expect an immersive experience that expands the lore from the popular theme park attractions featured at Disneyland, Disney World, and Tokyo Disneyland.
The themed bar will feature an insane amount of theming, exclusive drinks, and easter eggs that pay tribute to the dark rides. The Haunted Mansion Parlor pays touching tribute to the late Disney Imagineer, Rolly Crump, who devised years ago a concept for a ghostly aquarium populated by the spirits of departed fish. The new generation of Imagineers used Crump’s sketch as inspiration to build a new, featured “Aquarium with Ghost Fish” for the Haunted Mansion Parlor.
Disney promises that the parlor will star “legendary characters from Haunted Mansion attractions at Disney Parks around the world, as well as new seafaring arrivals” that will come out to socialize and put a grim grin on your face.
EW revealed a few first-look images this morning and gave more insight into the parlor’s meticulous details: “Most of the Haunted Mansion Parlor’s theming elements have ties to the attractions it’s based on, including Walt Disney’s original 1969 Disneyland version of the ride and the second iteration that opened in 1971 at Magic Kingdom in Florida. Other adaptations of the attraction subsequently opened in 1983 at Tokyo Disneyland, which mirrors the theming in the original pair of rides, though heavily altered editions called Phantom Manor opened at Disneyland Paris in 1992 and in 2013 as Mystic Manor at Hong Kong Disneyland.”

The dark ride attraction, which launched in 1969 and is still going strong today at Disney parks, “sees theme park guests go inside a spooky and creepy manor that has a wide array of supernatural frights. It also features a graveyard’s worth of characters.” The most popular characters include Hatbox Ghost, Madame Leota, The Phantom, and the Hitchhiking Ghosts. Rob Minkoff directed the feature film The Haunted Mansion back in 2003, the first big screen adaptation of the ride. Eddie Murphy starred in the film. Justin Simien’s new Haunted Mansion feature debuted in theaters last year.
The Haunted Mansion Parlor will begin welcoming foolish mortals when the Disney Treasure sets sail on December 21.
