First Look at Jack Black as SATAN Claus in Christmas Comedy ‘Dear Santa’ from the Farrelly Brothers

It’s not a horror movie, to be clear, but we thought you’d at least like to know that Jack Black is reteaming with the Farrelly Brothers (Dumb and Dumber, There’s Something About Mary, Kingpin, Shallow Hal) for the Christmas comedy Dear Santa this holiday season, with Jack Black playing Satan Claus rather than Santa Claus! EW shares the first images today.

In the upcoming Dear Santa, “Young Liam Turner (Robert Timothy Smith) still believes in Santa. To prove to all of his disbelieving friends that Santa is real, he writes a letter to the big guy inviting him to show himself. The only problem? Liam isn’t a very strong speller and addresses the letter to Satan (Jack Black) instead.

“Satan, who never gets letters from kids, is flattered and goes to meet Liam. Hijinks, chaos, and hilarity ensue.”

“Jack is just that guy that with his arching eyebrows and his faces and all that, there’s a little bit of mischievous to him at all times, but he’s eminently likable, and that’s just Jack,” director Bobby Farrelly tells Entertainment Weekly. “We never wanted to make it a horror movie or something like that. We wanted it to be comical. So it was a delicate ball of playing this iconic character but doing it in a way that the audience can have some fun with it. And Jack was the perfect guy.”

The Farrelly Brothers make it clear in their preview chat with Entertainment Weekly that Dear Santa is a family-friendly movie, so expect something more like Elf than Bad Santa.

Dear Santa comes to Paramount+ and Digital on November 25, 2024.

Keegan-Michael Key, Brianne Howey, Hayes MacArthur, PJ Byrne, Jaden Carson Baker, Kai Cech and Austin Post star alongside Jack Black.
