Ride the Lovecraftian Rails With Action-Adventure Title ‘RailGods of Hysterra’ [Trailer]

Combining Lovecraft with trains wasn’t on anyone’s bingo card. But The Kindeman Remedy developers Troglobytes Games and first-time publisher Digital Vortex Entertainment are still running with it for next year with RailGods of Hysterra, a cooperative base-building survival action game set in a nightmarish Lovecraftian dreamscape.

Coming to Early Access on PC via Steam and the PlayStation 5 in 2025, RailGods of Hysterra sees players enter a ruined world of ghoulish horrors wrought by the Great Old Ones. As a Dreamer, awoken from the Dreamlands and inseparably bound to your RailGod (a roaming fortress composed of steel and flesh forged through arcane and obscure rituals), you must survive in a reality twisted by madness. Shuttle between the last outposts while exploring the landscapes haunted by sinister cultists and nightmarish creatures inspired by Lovecraft’s narrative universe.

Climb aboard the RailGod and craft additional custom train cars for storage, loot, and workbenches. Explore the ever-changing hellscapes with axes, firearms, and spells, to battle otherworldly creatures and cultists, or take them prisoner to feed the hungry locomotive. Seeing as this is Lovecraft, you must also deal with your sanity. As such, you can approach the RailGod’s heart to cure accumulated madness and unlock powerful GodKeeper skills.
