Does a Sped-Up Hozier Really Sound Like Dolly Parton?
In some weird alternate universe, Dolly Parton and Hozier’s voices sound similar. That alternate universe is called the internet.
In a new video that is taking off on TikTok, user daniellesaudiophile puts a theory of speeding up Hozier’s music to sound like Parton’s iconic vocals to the test. The results are debatable, but if you mentally squint, there may be something to this strange idea.
After seeing a comment that reads, “Somebody once said Dolly Parton slowed down is Hozier and Hozier sped up is Dolly Parton,” she quickly runs to her record player to try it out.
She plays a Hozier song and speeds it up. The voice takes on a high pitch and when coupled with the sped-up guitar, it sounds similar to a Parton song.
Daniellesaudiophile also tested out this theory with Hozier’s most known song, “Take Me to Church.”
Then it was time to test out the reverse hypothesis: Does slowing down a Parton song make her voice sound like Hozier’s?
Again, you’ll have to mentally squint here, but it could be possible to mistake Parton’s vocals on “Jolene” for those of Hozier.
Speed Up Morgan Wallen and He Turns Into Miley Cyrus
Last year, a similar phenomenon was discovered with Morgan Wallen and Miley Cyrus. The internet claimed that if you sped up Wallen’s music, his voice would sound like the former Hannah Montana star’s vocals.
The Big D and Bubba radio show tested this out on their show by playing Wallen’s song “Cover Me Up.”
Watch below and tell us if MoWall does sound like Cyrus.
