Someone Spit On Lainey Wilson + Her Response Was Perfect!

While Lainey Wilson is beloved by many, even she isn’t safe from the bizarre and gross actions of rowdy concertgoers. In a recent interview with Taste if Country, the country star shared a story about a fan who spit on her while she was performing and how she handled the situation.

While 99 percent of the time country artists have supportive fans at their shows, there is always someone out there that has had a few too many and chooses to show disdain for someone that they paid to see perform for them.

Lately, we have seen phones, water bottles, boots and other objects being thrown, as well as some rowdy concertgoers getting tossed, some even booted out by the actual artist.

We recently had the chance to sit down with the reigning CMA and ACM Entertainer of the Year, Lainey Wilson, and she revealed something that happened to her at a concert that she has yet to talk about.

Wilson was a guest on Taste of Country Nights On Demand, where host, Evan Paul brought up the story of her friend and fellow country artist, Hardy, and what inspired his Quit!! tour.

Wilson was asked if she ever had a similar moment to when someone wrote “quit” on a napkin and placed it in Hardy’s tip jar when he was first starting out.

The “Hang Tight Honey” singer took a deep breath and then replied, “Last year when we were on our headlinin’ tour, somebody spit on me, on stage.”

When we asked what happened next, Wilson giggled while she said, “…and then…I thought about…” We all can imagine what Wilson thought about doing at that moment.

Wilson continued, “I thought about gettin’ down there and findin’ whoever it was, but I didn’t. I kept rolling.”

When asked what that meant to her, Wilson said, “First of all, I was like, ‘Why in the world would you buy a ticket and then go spit on somebody?'”

The 2024 CMA Entertainer of the Year nominee continued with her emotional story. “There’s some mean people in the world,” she said. “Also, they could have just been drunk and just being silly.”

Wilson then lightened the mood back up by describing the spit wad that flew at her in great detail. “It was weird, I saw it like coming through the air. It was like I made eye contact with the spit and it just lands on me and I’m just like, (singing) ‘I got a heart like a truck.’ That’s how I felt.”
