Pharrell’s Something In the Water Fest Postponed Until 2025

“This has to be EPIC, and trust me, after this long wait, it will be,” Pharrell wrote

Pharrell has announced that the annual Something in the Water festival in Virginia has been postponed until April 2025.

The superproducer made the announcement the same day the festival’s pre-sale tickets had gone on sale, writing on social media Friday that the show wasn’t ready and needed time to be as good as he wanted.

“Virginia doesn’t deserve better, Virginia deserves THE BEST. So Something in the Water has to match that. It just isn’t ready yet,” Pharrell wrote. “That’s why we as a team decided we must postpone this year’s Something in the Water festival that was due to take place in October. This is not a Pharrell festival, this is the state of Virginia’s festival so it has to be the best. Virginia made me, and I want to honor it with as much love as it’s shown me my entire life.”

Pharrell said that any tickets already purchased will be automatically refunded. Those who made purchases will get first access for tickets for next year’s festival, he wrote.

The postponement comes at a challenging time for the music festival marketplace, which faces higher expenses, bigger asking prices from artists, and increasing inclement weather. Made In America, the annual fest in Philadelphia, was canceled earlier this year, while organizers for Desert Daze in Lake Perris, California, announced last month that they were canceling the event due to “rising production costs and the current volatile festival market.”

Pharrell, for his part, promised next year’s event will be worth the delay. “This has to be EPIC, and trust me, after this long wait, it will be,” he wrote.
