The War on Drugs Announces ‘Live Drugs Again’
Live Drugs Again, out next week, features performances from 2022 and 2023
Indie rock heroes the War on Drugs are prepping a new live album, Live Drugs Again, which will be released next Friday, Sept. 13, via Super High Quality Records.
The 11-track album captures performances of shows the War on Drugs played around the world — America, the U.K., Europe, and Australia — between Feb. 2022 and Dec. 2023. At the time, the band was supporting their most recent studio album, 2021’s I Don’t Live Here Anymore, though their discography-spanning setlists included plenty of old favorites, like a performance of Lost in the Dream’s “Burning” that serves as the new live album’s lead offering.
In a statement, bandleader Adam Granduciel said, “Live Drugs Again chronicles the evolution of these songs from the studio to stages all over the world; documenting our continued growth as a live band. This series ensures that these versions, and some of our favorite moments on stage, will live on.”
Live Drugs Again marks the War on Drugs’ second live LP, following its 2020 predecessor, Live Drugs. The new album will arrive digitally next week, though fans can also pre-order a limited edition double-LP vinyl version (666 copies of which were pressed onto transparent blue vinyl). A standard vinyl and CD version of the album will arrive later this year.
For those craving the actual live War on Drugs experience, the band will soon embark on a co-headlining tour with the National, with support from Lucius. The Zen Diagram trek is set to kick off Sept. 12 in Gilford, New Hampshire, and wrap Oct. 12 in Monterrey, Mexico.
