[Gamescom 2024] Techland Announces Standalone Adventure ‘Dying Light: The Beast’ [Trailer]

Techland are adding to the world of Dying Light once again, announcing their new title Dying Light: The Beast at Gamescom for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, Xbox Series and PlayStation 5. Originally a story DLC for Dying Light 2, this 18+ hour standalone adventure is set in a post-apocalyptic Castor Woods.

Dying Light: The Beast casts players once again as Kyle Crane (voiced once again by Roger Craig Smith), a man whose selflessness during the initial virus outbreak saved many, but his reward was being held captive for 13 years and subjected to various experiments. Now free, Kyle finds himself in a world that’s changed, and not for the better. Now, you’ll need to use the survival skills that kept you alive all those years ago to save even more innocent lives, as well as hunt down those responsible for your torture.

“Stepping back into Kyle Crane’s shoes feels like a reunion with an old friend,” says Smith. “And even though he’s gone through a terrible time, there’s still plenty of legendary hero left in him.”

Castor Woods was once a bustling tourist destination, but is now home to a diminishing number of survivors and an increasing population of zombies. Featuring natural landmarks, small villages and industrial complexes, the setting offers diverse traversal options, whether it’s using your parkour skills to gain the upper hand on your enemies, or hopping into an abandoned 4×4 to outrun the horrors of the night. You’ll also have to deal with the various factions located here.

To show appreciation for the community who patiently waited for the DLC, Techland will be offering Dying Light: The Beast at no extra cost to all owners of the Ultimate Edition of Dying Light 2. Dying Light: The Beast will be available on both PC and current-gen and last-gen PlayStation and Xbox consoles, with more details including the release date later this year.
