McDonald’s Worker Set Restaurant on Fire Due to Annoyance

It hasn’t been an easy year for the fast-food industry. With declining revenue, increased prices and employee wages going up, you might be thinking, ‘What else can go wrong?’

Someone setting a restaurant on fire would certainly be up there on the list.

A McDonald’s worker has been sent to jail after setting fire to the restaurant, all because too many customers were frustrating him.

The worker’s name is Joshua Daryl McGregor, and he has just been sentenced to five years in prison for intentionally starting a fire in a Savannah, Ga. McDonald’s in April of 2023.

After getting upset and throwing a tantrum, he devised a plan that he thought was fool-proof, but it quickly escalated into something way bigger than he could have imagined.

McGregor lit a piece of cardboard and threw it into a dumpster outside of the fast food giant, which was filled with flammable material. The fire became so intense that customers waiting in the drive-thru were forced to give up on their orders and leave, as it was starting to spread toward the building.

The restaurant had to be shut down briefly, and the fire department and police were deployed to the scene.

The dumbest part of the whole ordeal? The angry worker filmed the whole thing on his phone, creating evidence of his guilt.

He thought that by setting the fire, McDonald’s would close and he could leave. He was right to an extent — he did get to leave, but in the back of a police car, and the restaurant did briefly shut down.

Now, McGregor has five years behind bars to think about what he did.
