Why Simone Biles Was “Stressing” Competing Against Rebeca Andrade
Simone Biles is ready to flip away from opponent Rebeca Andrade.
The Team USA gymnast—who won her second 2024 Paris Olympics gold medal Aug. 1 during the individual all-around competition—shared that she was delighted by her victory, but joked she definitely needs a break from the Brazilian gymnast, who took home silver.
“I don’t wanna compete with Rebeca no more—I’m tired,” Simone quipped to reporters after the competition. “She’s way too close.”
The 27-year-old couldn’t help but laugh at their friendly competition, adding, “I’ve never had an athlete that close, so it definitely put me on my toes and it brought out the best athlete in myself.”
And while Simone was “excited and proud to compete” and stand alongside Rebeca on the podium, she joked of her stress levels, “I don’t like it no more.”
“I’m getting uncomfortable guys,” Simone emphasized. “I don’t like that feeling—I was stressing!”
