Jennifer Lopez Celebrates Anniversary of Breakup Song ‘Cambia El Paso’

Lopez’s anniversary celebration for the song arrives in the midst of rumors that her partnership with Ben Affleck — whom she married in July 2022 — may be unraveling once again

Three years ago, Jennifer Lopez teamed up with Rauw Alejandro to release the Spanish-language single “Cambia El Paso.” In the time since, the singer has moved on from the relationship the record was rumored to have been written about, having broke off her engagement with Alex Rodriguez. She’s also appeared in multiple films, released the three-part musical film/documentary/album This Is Me… Now, and married her longtime flame Ben Affleck. But now, she’s circling back to the breakup song.

“Happy Anniversary Cambia El Paso … ☀️🌴,” Lopez wrote on Instagram, where she shared a snippet from the song’s official music video. In the clip, she lounges on the beach and struts down the street with the lightness of someone who just removed a ton of weight from their shoulders. “Her life is better now without him/She knows that her hips don’t fail her/She doesn’t need anyone to be well/She doesn’t fail,” Lopez sings on the record, according to a translation.

Lopez’s third anniversary celebration for the song arrives in the midst of rumors that her partnership with Affleck — whom she married in 2022 after rekindling their relationship a year prior — may be unraveling once again. Their official anniversary, from the date that they obtained their marriage license, is next week, July 17. But it has recently been speculated that Affleck moved out of their home as Lopez prepared for her since-canceled This Is MeLive tour.

“Jennifer is taking time off to be with her children, family and close friends,” a Live Nation rep said of the canceled run. Lopez’s own statement regarding the matter offered little insight into the reasoning behind the cancellation, reading: “I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down. Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary. I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again. I love you all so much. Until next time…”
