Lunay Will Perform at San Diego FC’s Chucky Lozano Introduction

“We want to make this a special moment for Chucky since he loves reggaeton,” says San Diego FC exec Sebastián Morúa of the free fan event

San Diego is getting a pro soccer team and one of the best Mexican players… so why not throw a reggaeton concert to celebrate?

Rolling Stone can exclusively announce that Lunay will join San Diego FC on Thursday for a free 45-minute concert celebrating the signing of Hirving “Chucky” Lozano as the team’s first Designated Player signing.

The team, set to join Major League Soccer next season, will introduce Chucky to the new team’s fans during the event titled “ChuckyMania” at San Diego’s Rady Shell at Jacobs Park. Fans can secure free tickets to the event on the San Diego Symphony Symphony’s website.

“I’m excited to have Lunay perform at my presentation in San Diego,” Lozano tells Rolling Stone. “Joining San Diego FC feels like a dream and having the opportunity to celebrate my arrival with our fans and Lunay in an iconic venue in San Diego will be epic.”

Lozano will join San Diego FC on a four-year contract in 2024, after spending seven years in Europe playing for the Netherlands’ PSV and Italy’s Napoli. With PSV, he won titles in the Eredivisie in 2018 and 2024, and the Serie A with Napoli in 2023. He also represented Mexico at the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups and is a staple on the national team.

“This is a historic moment for our club and we couldn’t think of a better artist to collab with as we welcome one of Mexico’s biggest stars to San Diego and MLS,” says San Diego FC executive Sebastián Morúa. “We want to make this a special moment for Chucky since he loves reggaeton and working with a rising talent like LUNAY fits perfectly with our club’s mission of providing opportunities for talent to flourish and San Diego to shine.”
