Polo G Facing Gun Charges After Loaded Firearm Found in Hotel Room

Rapper born Taurus Bartlett was previously arrest in August 2023 on charges of kidnapping, robbery and assault

Polo G‘s rash of legal issues continued this week in New York as the rapper was arrested on gun charges after a loaded firearm was found in his Manhattan hotel room.

The Chicago rapper, born Taurus Bartlett, is facing charges of criminal possession of a weapon and possession of a loaded firearm after a maid cleaning his room at New York’s Dominick Hotel called police after finding the gun, the New York Post reports.

Bartlett was arraigned at Manhattan Criminal Court and released soon after on $25,000 bail. The case was scheduled for a June 4 court date.

Bartlett’s arrest comes eight months after the rapper was arrested twice in two days on charges of kidnapping, robbery, and assault stemming from two separate incidents in the Los Angeles area in October 2023. Bartlett’s younger brother Tauren — a rapper who goes by the name Trench Baby — was also charged in both incidents; a month later, in November 2023, Tauren Bartlett was charged with felony murder in connection to a June 2023 drive-by shooting.

Prior to that, Polo G was arrested in June 2021 on charges of battery on a police officer, threats to a public servant, resisting an officer with violence to his person, resisting an officer without violence to his person, and criminal mischief following an incident with law enforcement after the rapper hosted an album release party in Miami. The majority of those charges — including the two felonies — were ultimately dropped as part of a plea bargain where the rapper enrolled in a pre-trial diversion program.

Amid all the legal issues, Polo G has continued to release new music, with his single, “Sorrys and Ferraris,” arriving in February 2024. The rapper’s next album, the follow-up to his chart-topping 2021 LP Hall of Fame, is expected out this summer.
