“Grotesquerie” – Ryan Murphy Releases Surprise Teaser for Mysterious New FX Horror Series
The smash hit success of “True Detective: Night Country,” the fourth season of the HBO anthology series, is paving the way for “True Detective” Season 5, we’ve learned today.
Variety reports that “Night Country” creator Issa López (Tigers Are Not Afraid) will stay on board to lead the fifth season under her new overall deal with HBO.
The website notes in today’s report, “At this time, Jodie Foster and Kali Reis are not attached to the fifth installment, as the show has changed its lead actors with each new season.”
“From conception to release, ‘Night Country’ has been the most beautiful collaboration and adventure of my entire creative life,” López said. “HBO trusted my vision all the way, and the idea of bringing to life a new incarnation of ‘True Detective’ with Casey, Francesca and the whole team is a dream come true. I can’t wait to go again.
“Issa Lopez is that one-of-a-kind, rare talent that speaks directly to HBO’s creative spirit,” added Francesca Orsi, executive vice president of HBO Programming. “She helmed ‘True Detective: Night Country’ from start to finish, never once faltering from her own commendable vision, and inspiring us with her resilience both on the page and behind the camera. Alongside Jodie and Kali’s impeccable performances, she’s made this installation of the franchise a massive success, we are so lucky to have her as part of our family.”
“True Detective: Night Country” averaged 12.7 million total viewers per episode, which makes it the most watched season of “True Detective” in the anthology’s four-season history.
From writer/director/showrunner/executive producer Issa López (Tigers Are Not Afraid), “Night Country” stars screen legend Jodie Foster alongside Kali Reis.
“When the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, the eight men who operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace. To solve the case, Detectives Liz Danvers (Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Reis) will have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves, and dig into the haunted truths that lie buried under the eternal ice.”
