Shawn Mendes Fronts David Yurman’s Spring Campaign + More Fashion News
Plus, more signs of spring from Moose Knuckles and Smythe.
Shawn Mendes is David Yurman’s first Canadian celebrity ambassador
David Yurman’s spring 2023 campaign features Shawn Mendes, the brand’s first-ever Canadian celebrity brand ambassador. Celebrating nature as a constant source of inspiration for the jewellery brand, the “Nature’s Artistry” campaign invites us all to renew our appreciation for the world around us — and perhaps our appreciation for Mendes. “[He’s an artist] with an effortless and welcoming presence,” says Evan Yurman, president and CCO of the American jeweller, in a press release, also citing that Mendes’s qualities are enhanced by the natural and peaceful environments he is captured in.
Moose Knuckles diversifies its offerings
It’s February, we’re in Canada, the temperature has mostly been above zero, and everyone is slightly bemused. Unsure as to whether the warmth is a gift or a concern, we’ll at least conclude that the weather these days pairs perfectly with Moose Knuckles’ Spring 2023 collection. This new lineup of goods is exceptionally exciting as it features never-before-seen styles from the beloved parka brand, such as quilted separates and lightweight, down-filled outerwear. With so many ways to layer, these pieces pack a punch of carefree exuberance that takes everyday dressing to a new level.
Smythe is spreading spring fever
Smythe has soft launched its spring styles, and as always, the collection does not disappoint. Included in the mix are new silhouettes (like a cropped blazer) and bold colours (such as cobalt blue), along with loads of florals and statement-making suits. Talk about spring fever.
Tiffany & Co. unveils Bird on a Pearl
Leave it to Tiffany & Co. to offer up a conversation starter: Its latest high jewellery collection features the world’s rarest natural pearls. In an ode to the fashion house’s iconic Bird on a Rock brooch, first launched in 1965, this collection consists of pearl variations of the signature winged creature. The ultimate masterpiece in the collection? A three-strand pearl necklace of over 316 carats, dotted with glimmering birds in motion.
Mercedes-Benz and Moncler collaborate on an artistic installation
Mercedes-Benz and Moncler have announced a new collaboration that challenges expectations. On February 20 at 3 p.m. EST, a unique art piece made by Gorden Wagener, chief design officer of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, will be revealed on Moncler.com as part of Moncler’s London Fashion Week live show. The collaboration symbiotically fulfills Mercedes-Benz’s goal to interact with broader audiences beyond automotive and enforces Moncler’s power to evolve in the luxury industry beyond fashion.
Dr. Martens patches together parts of its legacy
Dr. Martens has tapped its 100-year-old U.K.-based factory to source surplus materials for a waste-defying collection. The drop, aptly named the Deadstock Pack, features the iconic 1460 boot and the 1461 shoe redone with exaggerated stitching, unfinished edges and kitschy, mismatched eyelets. Colour variations across each pair add extra charm. With less than 1,500 pairs in this global drop, each one-of-a-kind kick is a step toward a less wasteful future.
