Carrie Underwood Driven to Tears by Fans’ Tribute to Departed Dog
Carrie Underwood was so deeply touched by a group of fans’ sweet gesture in remembrance of her dog Ace, who died on April 3, that she “immediately started crying.” The country superstar turned to social media to express her thanks after some fans banded together to raise money in Ace’s name and sent the singer a touching e-card.
Underwood shared the news of her loss on Monday (April 4), posting a montage of pictures of Ace over their long years together.
“He was there for me when I was on my own trying to figure out life when it was at its craziest!” Underwood says. “He was with me through 3 houses, 6 tours and 2 kids … always ready to snuggle and play … through all the highs and lows. He was a true friend and a good boy till the very end. I love you, sweet Ace … see you on the other side…”
A fan account posted on Twitter on Saturday (April 9), sharing that they had raised more than $4,000 to honor Ace with a donation to the C.A.T.S. Foundation (Checotah Animal, Town & School Foundation), which Underwood founded to serve needs in her hometown of Checotah, Okla. Among its many functions, the foundation is focused on the “building of a new animal shelter where emphasis is placed on the importance of spay and neutering, pet adoption, and general pet welfare,” according to its website.

The post came to the attention of the singer, who once again turned to social media to share her emotional reaction.
“You guys are honestly the best!” she writes. “When I read this, I immediately started crying…I can’t believe you all pitched in like that! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. And thank you on behalf of Ace and all the little furry babies that you are helping!”
Underwood performed her new single, “Ghost Story,” at the 2022 Grammy Awards on April 3, and she revealed the track listing for her upcoming new album, Denim & Rhinestones, on Friday (April 8).
