Caitlyn Jenner has doubled down her support for Florida’s reviled ‘Don’t Say Gay’ law as LGBT+ activists and allies continue to speak out against the controversial legislation.

The Olympic gold medalist shared her views on Fox Business as part of her new role as a Fox News contributor, arguing that she did want a “math teacher” to teach her kids about gender identity.

“I am a big supporter of [Florida governor] Ron DeSantis and what he’s doing,” Jenner stated. “I’m a parent. I have a very large family, raised a very large family, have a lot of grandkids, and I have been in control of my children’s destiny and what they’re going to learn in school, not some math teacher teaching my kids about gender identity. I can teach those lessons.”

Caitlyn Jenner then shared her disappointment regarding the backlash facing the bill as she added: “So, yes, I am in support of Ron DeSantis and what he has done. I am disappointed in the backlash that he’s gotten, especially from Disney.

“This is a legislation [sic] that supports parents and the parents are the ones that are paying Disney to go to Disneyland and it’s unfortunate to see them react to it this way.”

The ‘Don’t Say Gay’ law, officially titled the Parental Rights in Education Bill, bans the discussion of LGBT+ topics in classrooms from kindergarten to third grade. For children from fourth grade onwards, these topics must be “age appropriate” and “developmentally appropriate”, although the bill gives no definitions for these terms.

Caitlyn Jenner came out in 2015, immediately becoming the world’s most famous trans woman. Having repeatedly used her platform to push a right-wing agenda, her stock among the LGBT+ community is as low as it’s ever been.

Last month saw the failed politician confirm she would be regularly sharing her views on right-wing news station Fox News, claiming she was “humbled by this unique opportunity to speak directly to Fox News Media’s millions of viewers about a range of issues that are important to the American people”.

In recent months, Jenner has doubled down on her opposition to trans women taking part in sports, stating that “we have to protect women’s sports”.
