Sandra Bullock Is Stepping Back From Acting to Spend More Time With Her Kids
Sandra Bullock is taking a hiatus from her acting career to spend more time with her family.
The Oscar-winning actress, who is mother to 12-year-old son Louis Bullock and 10-year-old daughter Laila Bullock, told Entertainment Tonight that she plans to step back from acting in order to be “in the place that makes me happiest.”
“I take my job very seriously when I’m at work,” she explained. “And I just want to be 24/7 with my babies and my family. That’s where I’m gonna be for a while.”
She also joked that she would be “servicing their every need [and] their social calendar” during this Hollywood break.
“All the parents know me as the crazy lady with the pandemic,” Bullock continued. “They know their children will return without COVID when they’ve come to our house.”
The Ocean’s Eight star adopted Louis and Laila in 2010 and 2015, respectively. She co-parents with Bryan Randall, her boyfriend since 2015.
Bullock opened up about parenthood to Jada Pinkett Smith in a December episode of Red Table Talk.
“[Randall]’s the example I would want my children to have,” she said during her guest appearance, per E! News. “I don’t always agree with him and he doesn’t always agree with me, but he is an example even when I don’t agree with him. … He’s the exact right parent to be in this position.”
She also opened up about her children’s adoption stories.
“It makes me really emotional, but I feel beyond a shadow of a doubt that my mother brought me these children,” she said, adding that she “found out about both babies” while staying in the town where her mother, Helga Meyer, was buried. “I knew I would be a mother. I knew I wouldn’t be a mother at a young age. … I was on a wheel, but it’s hard when society is breathing down your neck going, ‘You have to do [motherhood] this way.’”
