Britney Spears has accused her sister Jamie Lynn of cashing in on her name and her family of “ruining her dreams”.

The singer spoke out after Jamie Lynn Spears accused Britney of “erratic, paranoid and spiralling” behaviour over the years in an interview with ABC’s Good Morning America, while promoting her new book, Things I Should Have Said.

Britney wasn’t impressed.

“The two things that did bother me that my sister said was how my behaviour was out of control,” she wrote.

“She was never around me much 15 years ago at the time… so why are they even talking about that unless she wants to sell a book at my expense ???”

Later that evening, Jamie Lynn fired back against the “Toxic” hitmaker on Instagram. “The things being said are absolutely not the truth,” she countered.

Britney Spears blasts family for ‘ruining her life’

Britney Spears said that she was sick with a “104-degree fever” when she tuned in to Jamie Lynn’s interview, insisting it was the only reason she could “surrender to not caring” about her sister’s claims.

The pop princess also took aim at Jamie Lynn saying she was confused at Britney being upset with her over a 2017 tribute performance.

Britney previously took aim at her sister for performing a megamix of her biggest hits, saying it “hurt [her] deeply”.

After Jamie Lynn said the criticism confused her, Britney said on Thursday (13 January): “I know it might sound like a silly thing to most people, but I wrote a lot of my songs and my sister was a baby.

“She never had to work for anything,” Britney said of the Zoey 101 star. “Everything was always given to her.

Britney said Jamie Lynn’s performance was everything she “had ever wanted”, having previously spoken about being denied the right to perform remixes to her songs on stage while under her conservatorship.

“If you were me, you might understand asking for 13 years of remixes to go into a small venue show and on tours,” she said.

Britney blasted both her parents who “all got to DO IT and PLAY ME” while Jamie Lynn “sat there and took it”.

Her family, she seethed, “ruined my dreams”. She claimed that she once pressed her sister about the performance, “and her words were: ‘Well, it wasn’t my idea’.”

“Hope your book does well, Jamie Lynn,” Britney wrote. “I won’t be doing Instagram for a while. This media, the business, has always been extremely hateful to me.

“I’ve given enough… MORE than enough. I was never given back ever what I want. They say in the Bible, ‘ask and you shall receive’ …. Uhhhhh not in my life.”

Jamie Lynn Spears ‘bursts Britney’s bubble’ amid strained relationship

Since Britney Spears broke her silence on the conservatorship that controlled her life for almost 14 years, she has rallied against her family for the part they played in her misery.

Her father, Jamie Spears, was repeatedly accused of conservatorship “abuse” by Britney in a rash of social media posts and court testimonies. She claimed that her mother Lynne “ruined her life” by giving Jamie the idea for the conservatorship in the first place.

Jamie Lynn responded to Britney’s criticism with a statement of her own.

“You know behind the scenes I have always been there,” she wrote on Instagram. “It’s become exhausting when conversations and tests we have in private don’t match what you post on social media.

“I know you’re going through a lot,” she said of Britney, who last year reclaimed her freedom when a Los Angeles judge dissolved her conservatorship. “I never want to diminish that, but I also can’t diminish myself.”

“Sadly, after a lifetime of staying silent, I have come to realise this isn’t going to be a reality, and I may have to set the record straight myself in order to protect mine and my family’s well-being,” she said.

Jamie Lynn claimed her children have been subject to “death threats” because of “their aunt’s vague and accusatory posts”.

“That being said,” she continued, “I hate to burst my sister’s bubble but my book is not about her. I can’t help that I was born a Spears, too.”

After Jamie Lynn unveiled the initial title of her book, I Must Confess: Family, Fame and Figuring it Out, Britney slated her sister in a thinly-veiled Instagram post for referencing her song, “…Baby One More Time”, in the title.

“Great news … I’m thinking of releasing a book next year,” the singer posted. “But I’m having issues coming up with a title, so maybe my fans could help!!!

“Option one, ‘S**t, I don’t really know’… Option two… ‘I really care what people think ‘!!!!”

Jamie Lynn changed the memoir shortly after.
