The trailer for Netflix’s gay Christmas film Single All The Way is finally here – and it features Jennifer Coolidge screaming “Grindr”.

Single All The Way follows best friends Peter (Ugly Betty‘s Michael Urie) and Nick (Philemon Chambers) as they return to Peter’s family home for the festive season.

They initially decide to pretend they’re in a relationship so Peter’s family will leave them alone – but that plan quickly goes awry when his mother (Kathy Najimy) sets him up on a blind date with James (Luke Macfarlane).

Netflix finally dropped the trailer for the hotly-anticipated Christmas flick on Wednesday (10 November), and to say gays are already obsessed would be an understatement.

Jennifer Coolidge wonders why gays are ‘obsessed’ with her in Single All The Way trailer

The instantly-iconic trailer sees comedy icon Kathy Najimy parodying Oprah’s love of handing out free things before even allowing Peter and Nick to enter her home.

Once inside, she announces that she’s setting Peter up on a date with her personal trailer (Macfarlane), which prompts Jennifer Coolidge to walk in and scream: “Like from Grindr?!”

Later in the trailer, Coolidge’s character (correctly) proclaims: “The gays just know how to do stuff. For some reason, they’re all obsessed with me.” To answer the question you’ve obviously thinking – yes, it’s entirely possible that Coolidge is just playing herself here.

Other instantly relatable moments include Peter (Urie) filling his shopping trolley with numerous bottles of wine (we’ve all been there) and him spitting hot chocolate out all over the place on his blind date with James.

We might just have a trailer as of yet, but we’re already happy to declare it the best Christmas film of the season.

Queer people, and those who love Christmas more generally, have been waiting with baited breath for Single All The Way ever since it was announced in March.

Responding to the news that Coolidge and Najimy had joined the cast at the time, Urie said: “If that isn’t some kinda gay Christmas miracle, I don’t know what is” – and honestly, it’s hard to disagree.

Single All The Way is directed by Tony award winner Michael Mayer and also stars Barry Bostwick and Schitt’s Creek star Jennifer Robertson.

Announcing the film earlier this year, Mayer said it was “really gratifying to tell a story that happens AFTER coming out”.

Meanwhile, producer Joel S Rice said: “What I love most about this hysterical, moving project is that it is simply a genuine holiday romantic comedy that explores friendship and love between gay men.”
