Selena Gomez Joked About What Her Friends Experience Following Her On Instagram In Viral TikTok
On Saturday, model Connar Franklin posted a now viral TikTok of her casual hang with “international celebrity” Selena Gomez. In the clip, Gomez is talking to their friend Aaron, taking a mock snooty tone while joking about what happens to her pals when they start following her on social media.
“All my friends literally get mad at me when they follow me because their Explore page is me, so all they see is me,” Gomez quips as Franklin giggles behind the camera. “And then I’m like ‘I’m sorry, I’m just so famous.’ Like it’s just not my problem. It’s just not. I don’t get it, like, don’t follow me, I’m just an international celebrity. Sorry that people care.”

“BTW SHE’S JOKING,” Franklin assured viewers in the caption, adding a laugh-crying emoji for good measure. The clip seems to show the group in someone’s work out room, and Gomez is dressed in a comfortable sweatshirt and leggings, sitting on her yoga mat and scrolling through her phone before her monologue begins. This is obviously how Gomez is around her buds, comfortable enough to joke about her celebrity status, which probably causes all sorts of odd problems the rest of us don’t think about—like taking over the Explore page.
Gomez has been big on TikTok lately, and one of her recent posts was even dueted by Lizzo as the artist performed on stage.
“So, would you guys want to duet Selena Gomez’s TikTok with me?” Lizzo first asked the crowd, and of course they said yes.

It’s great that Gomez is having fun with friends right now, and she’s said she’s not involved with anyone romantically.
“I think people only care because I’m young, and the older I get, the less they’ll care,” she said in March. “For now, it’s a part of the job that I don’t really like. I’m actually grateful that I’m not involved with anyone right now.”
