Jennifer Lopez Wore an Elegant Houndstooth Coat at the Capitol Ahead of Her Inauguration Performance

Jennifer Lopez is in Washington, D.C., and ready to perform later today during President Joe Biden’s afternoon inauguration. And the singer came sharply dressed for the occasion, showcasing the first of her outfits yesterday evening. Lopez posed at the Capitol in a black and white houndstooth coat. She took a selfie with the National Guard there, paying tribute to them and their service in her Instagram’s caption.

“What an honor to spend a few moments with these brave men and women,” Lopez wrote. “Thank you for your service and sacrifice. I honor you today and everyday. 🇺🇸 Tomorrow I sing for you and all Americans. ❤️🤍💙 #inauguration2021”

Lopez, according to her fiancé Alex Rodriguez, is more nervous about performing at today’s inauguration than she was at the Super Bowl Halftime Show last year. “What’s interesting is she’s most nervous about Washington, D.C. because of the responsibility,” he told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show earlier this week. Through her inaugural performance, Lopez hopes to “inspire” and “bring people together,” A-Rod said.

Lopez campaigned for Biden and was candid about her thoughts about the outgoing Trump administration. In her new ELLE interview, conducted the week before the 2021 election, she spoke about how important people voting is to her and how bad the Trump administration was for the American people.

“I’ve told everybody who works around me, all my family, ‘Don’t even talk to me if you haven’t voted.’ ” Lopez said. “The world right now is so confusing to me, because I feel like we all know that things need to change. It doesn’t matter if you’re Republican or Democrat, if you’re looking at the world right now, you know that we can do better—you know that. We can’t stay with this administration, we just can’t. It’s the definition of insanity.”
