Gigi Hadid on How Taylor Swift Helped Her With Early Pregnancy Nausea During London Fashion Week
Gigi Hadid was feeling nostalgic yesterday when she shared an image of herself walking at Jacquemus’ fashion show one year ago, adding that at the time, she was pregnant with her first child, the baby girl she and boyfriend Zayn Malik welcomed in September 2020. No one knew then—and in reality, Hadid had just found out herself. The model explained on Twitter that she had been really nauseous then, and her mom Yolanda and friend Taylor Swift played a role in helping her combat her morning sickness so she could still work European fashion month.
Hadid walked Jacquemus’ Paris menswear fall/winter show on January 18, 2020. She revealed on Twitter that she learned she was pregnant one day before Tom Ford’s menswear show, on January 12. She would go on to do shows throughout the season, traveling to London for its womenswear shows in February, where Swift was at the time. Swift, of course, splits her time between the U.S. and U.K., with her British boyfriend Joe Alwyn.
Hadid confirmed on Twitter that she knew she was pregnant when walking the Jacquemus show. “Yes, I found out the day before the Tom Ford show,” she tweeted. “I was so nauseous backstage, but I learned I could kinda control it if I continuously ate, so my mom would pack me snacks before each show. Bless.”
She added that her cravings varied. “It went it waves. Everything bagels/ extra cream cheese, triple chunk brownies for breakfast- sourdough toast & tomato olive oil salad w lots of salt and pepper lol … and Z’s ribs w fries. Random,” she wrote. Then she added, “Also arugula salads !!! But during fashion month in Europe it was hard to find bagels so I ate mostly bread & Dutch cheese (except for in London, Taylor gave me bagels). Backstage at Burberry was the hardest day with the nausea, I remember.” The Burberry show in London was on February 17.
